Sandhill cranes are amazing birds known for their unique dancing skills, which are displayed during courting. New Mexico has a popular, long-running festival dedicated to them! This December, come celebrate the return of the Sandhill Cranes to their winter home at the 33rd Annual Bosque del Apache Festival of the Cranes. This nationally-recognized festival is considered one of the premiere wildlife, birding, and photography events in all of North America! It is a spectacle that you will never forget. 

More than one hundred events will be offered across the festival's three day run. There will be birding classes, guided tours, hikes, and more. Whether you're a professional or amateur photographer, there will be plenty of opportunities for you to snap the perfect shot of these wonderful birds.

Along with the sandhill cranes, Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge is known for its snow geese, but many different birds call it home. From the vistas in the park, you'll here lots of bird songs and see lots of wildlife. Keep a lookout for ducks, bald eagles, raptors, roadrunners, and more.
