This November, Teatro Paraguas is hosting their seventh annual community El Día de los Muertos  (Day of the Dead) celebration. This colorful, festive event embraces the past, honoring ancestors with live music, dance, and song. Anyone who will be in Santa Fe is welcome to join.

This free event seeks to unite the community with its exciting line-up of live music, a staged cuento (folk-tale), and a medley of songs, dances, and poetry. The ceremony will open with amazing Aztec Dancers. Then there will be a bilingual cuento entitled Prietita y la Llorona, featuring the talented young actors of TP's children's program. The Teatro Paraguas Orchestra will perform a medley of songs accompanied by dazzling dancers. Poems and stories will also be performed, encouraging nostalgia and remembrance.

The public is invited to bring mementos and photographs of their ancestors to add to the theatre's altar honoring los antepasados (those who came before). Those who wish to visit the altar can enter the theatre beginning at 3 PM on the day of the celebration.

This event will take place on November 2, 2021, with festivities starting at 7 PM. Please note that Teatro Paraguas requires attendees to provide proof of vaccination and to wear masks inside the theatre.
