What comes to mind when you think of Shakespeare? You may think of academics. Maybe you think of the United Kingdom. You may even think of a specific play such as Romeo and Juliet or Hamlet. Odds are you don't think of accessible festivals in Albuquerque, New Mexico!

The New Mexico Shakespeare Festival (NMSF) is an awesome drama festival that brings fantastic, FREE performances of Shakespeare's classic works to Albuquerque's New Mexico Veterans Memorial Park and National Hispanic Cultural Center. At NMSF, the belief is that "Shakespeare is for everyone - whether you've seen dozens of plays or none at all" so they go to great lengths to make the performances accessible, both in convenience and in comprehensibility.

This year, NMSF will present A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Comedy of Errors. Performances of both shows will take place throughout June and July. The full calendar of shows can be viewed online here

A select number of ASL Interpreted performances will take place at the NM Veterans Memorial Park. These will be A Midsummer Night's Dream on June 23 and The Comedy of Errors on July 2.

For extra fun, Shakespeare is on the Railrunner each Saturday in June. You can learn more here.

If you're visiting Albuquerque this summer, then you should be sure to catch a free Shakespeare performance!
